Lesley Patterson-Marx is a lifelong visual artist, and a native of Louisville, KY who has lived in Nashville, TN since 2001. She has exhibited her artist’s books, prints, mixed-media, and textile works in galleries, art centers, colleges and universities across the United States, Great Britain and The Netherlands. Her work has been featured in publications including 500 Artist’s Books Volume 2, Textile Nature, Uppercase Magazine, New American Paintings, Craft, and ReadyMade. Lesley’s works can be found in the collections of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Vanderbilt University Special Collections Library, Baylor University, Mississippi University for Women, and The Lucille Caudill Little Library at The University of Kentucky, and more. She received her BA in Fine Art from Murray State University and her MFA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With over 25 years of experience as a teaching artist, Lesley has taught a variety of creative mediums at the college and secondary level, and offers adult community education workshops locally, regionally, and nationally. She has taught week-long book arts and garment sewing workshops at workshops schools including, Arrowmont, Appalachian Center for Craft, and Shakerag Workshops. One of her favorite aspects of teaching is sharing her passion for learning, while witnessing people surprise and amaze themselves with their own creations. In 2024, Lesley self published “The Ephemeral Tarot, Tarot Deck and Guidebook”. This intricate tarot deck took four years to create, and includes 78 tarot cards made entirely from hand-cut collage, and includes a 144 page guidebook.
