Class Description:
Unlock the secrets of creating Hugo Peller’s clever Pop-Up Box, a remarkable design that
was created by Swiss bookbinder Hugo Peller mid 20th century. This unique box houses a
small book which pops up magically when the box is opened. You will learn step-by-step
techniques to construct your own variation of Hugo Peller’s box as well as the small book
which fits snugly into the box. Combining bookboard, bookcloth, waxed linen thread and
ribbon you will learn advanced as well as basic Cartonnage and bookbinding skillls to create
this beautiful piece. A challenge for both beginning box makers and bookbinders, you will
create a unique piece of art.

Class Kits: Class materials kits will be sent by the instructor. Shipping and kit costs are included in the class price.*

Tools & Supplies: To be announced in SDBA Welcome Letter, 2 weeks prior to class, or within teacher PDFs.

Class Recordings: Recordings will be available for two months following the last class in this series, for registered students only.
