Class Description: The Link structure has the property of connecting the cover of one book with the cover of another book, using a tab or flap as the connecting element, making it an easily reversible union. These volumes could function both independently and together.
This structure is ideal for editions of two or more volumes.
In this course, we will learn how to create two bindings in Link, with covers made of heavyweight paper and a flexible spine material such as “Japanese” paper, applicable in this case to accordion books.
Over the course of two days of work, we will construct two accordions with papers of different weights, evaluating the different ways to construct them based on their technical qualities. Then, we will connect each accordion to a different cover.
Tools & Set Up Supplies: Students will provide their own tools and set up supplies, which will be covered in the time sensitive SDBA & AAC Welcome Letter.
