Class Description:
The Magic or Hidden Compartment Box is known as Karakuri Bako in Japanese, where the design originated. Perfect for storing jewelry, stationery, secret notes, or chocolates, this clever design is also a lovely ornament in your home. You will be guided, step by step, in using bookboard, PVA glue, and strong Chiyogami papers as well as a combination of precision measuring, sharp creasing and beautiful symmetry as you create The Magic Box. Whether you are new to making boxes or a seasoned pro, creation of the functional and visually striking box will be a delightful journey into the world of Cartonnage and Paper Arts.

Class Kits: Class materials kits will be sent by the instructor. Shipping and kit costs are included in the class price.*

Tools & Supplies: All tools and some supplies to be provided by registrant. Guidance will be offered in SDBA’s timely Welcome Letter or the teacher’s PDFs.

Class Recordings: Recordings will be available for two months following each class, for registered students only.

Non-member: $375
