Hand Carved Stamps: Relief Printing for Book Cloth and Decorative Paper

Class Description:
Participants will learn to carve and print their own stamps on both paper and cloth. Demonstrations will include transferring both abstract and representational designs onto the carving material, carving the stamps, printing with both stamps pads and acrylic paint, creating repeating patterns, and making book cloth from prints on fabric. The carving material that will be used for making the stamps is soft and easy to carve while still retaining crisp details. Participants will complete the workshop with a few stamps that can be used over and again, as well as some unique prints to incorporate into future creations! This workshop is suitable for all levels, and beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Tools and Supplies: Registrants are responsible for providing their own class tools and supplies, details of which will be sent in the SDBA Welcome Letter.
Class Recordings: Recordings will be available for one month following the last class in this series, for registered students only.
